Safe Medication Disposal Program

**Message from the Bear Valley Police Department**

The Bear Valley Police Department wishes to remind residents of our Safe Medication Disposal Program.

In 2019, the department installed a safe medication disposal drop box in the lobby of the Police Department.  Since then, nearly 120 lbs. of unwanted or expired medications have been safely disposed of through our partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications can present a public safety hazard. When thrown into the trash, they can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold. If flushed, they can contaminate the water supply.

The drop box is accessible 24/7.

Not permitted: Illegal drugs, needles, liquids, inhalers, or aerosol cans.

Protect your family, the public, and the environment.  Use the Safe Medication Disposal drop box and we’ll take it from there.

Be safe.
