he District has a total of 60 locations that have guardrail in place, all of them original installations. Most of these locations have outdated structures in place and require updating and replacement with current acceptable engineering and construction standards.

 Background

In 2018 the Board of Directors approved $150,000 to replace outdated guardrails in the District. In October of 2018 the District hired Willdan to inventory all of our guardrails and do a condition assessment.

ANALYSIS

Of the 60 locations of guardrail in the District, only two met current standards. 22 were found to have some damage; 5 of those were deemed high priority and 17 low priority based upon the extent of damage and the location of the guardrail. Priorities were established based upon location and a multi-year approach was provided. (Attached)

FISCAL IMPACT

The Engineers Estimate of the Guardrail Replacement Project for fiscal year 2018/19 is $149,800.
