Will Parks and Dawn Smith attended the Tehachapi Water Regional Group (TWRG) meeting at Tehachapi Cummings County Water District Office on August 11. The group consists of Bear Valley, City of Tehachapi, Golden Hills, Stallion Springs, and CCI. The meeting was primarily about Water Conservation Public Relations. It was discussed to start a regional conservation campaign. This entails new banners and magnets with the new “Save Our Water” icon and all agencies being represented in a united front on the banners. To date there are no mandatory water use restrictions. Until there are statewide restrictions other agencies are not enticed to enforce any regulations to restrict their customer’s water usage. However, local agencies have created new door hangers and do put them on properties with excessive water usage or broken irrigation to help the public under stand that we do need to try and conserve our resources. The next meeting is set for September 8. There are some proposed drought infrastructure funds coming available in the fall that the TWRG is hoping to have new information on in the next meeting.
